To be honest I've never cried while watching a movie, but the closest I've ever gotten was while watching Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ."

I think it struck a religious nerve, added to the fact that I was watching it in theatre on a huge screen with surround sound, but that movie got me emotional. The Green Mile might be in second place, but nothing really came as close to waterworks as Passion of the Christ.

I found that quite an emotional film. Another one that had me near tears. I think its the self sacrafice that effects me the most. Being a former Roman Catholic I'm aware of the events that led up to the cruxifiction, but I've never seen them displayed in such a graphic way. The film showed me the events leading up to the cruxifiction in a different light.

Uhh...Cry? I think it was called Jack or something. That was a sad one. He got old too fast. Old people are sad. I didn't cry, but it was a sad ending.

Menace II Society and Boyz In Da Hood. Yes, I did actually cry. I guess it's the ones that you relate to the most that hit you the hardest...

Indeed. That has to be one of the saddenst movies ever made. And what makes it even sadder is that it is based upon a true story.

Now that I write it it feels somehow wrong. Is saddest really sad increaded? Or is it more/most sad?

Agreed - Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most gut renching films I have ever seen.

The story and animation are great but so far I have not been able to bring myself to watch it a second time. I still remember how much it tore me up the first time I watched - which was about three years ago.

You know, I went out and found Grave of the Fireflies, hooked myself up with it and watched it because of what was said here. And I need to say, I didn't find it sad at all. In fact by the end of the movie I wanted my 3 hours back (time it took me to get the movie and watch it). What was sad about it? The only sad thing about it was how idiotic the kid was really, at every turn he had a chance to clean up his act and get some decent food and shelter but he turned it all away every time like a moron just because he wanted to live under his own roof. Honestly when you're dieing, you don't refuse to work and blow all your money, you do what you need to do to live as well as you can. This kid was just so STUPID it pissed me off watching it. "What's that? I actually need to start working to get anything around here?! Well then I'm going out to the lake to starve to death!"

Some of the very first scenes of the burning of the towns and what not was sad, but other than that...sorry. It was the kids own foolishness that screwed him over, nothing else.

I remember shedding some tears in The Patriot though...some of that stuff was pretty moving.

All Monty Python movies, I don't know why, but they make me cry with hilarity every time.

Yeah the Mel Gibson one, none of the scenes had him in it though. The whole burning the church full of people brutality got to me.

Oh too true.

I Am Sam was the only movie that ever made me go teary eyed.

EDIT*Ah yes... I almost forgot about the 40 year old virgin...I wanna shake the hand of the person who wrote that stuff up.
